Free Country
Media is pleased to announce the official premiere of the documentary film, “American
Heart.”
The film
will be unveiled as a part of the 2013 Minneapolis St. Paul International Film
Festival, and will be competing in the
Made-in-Minnesota Documentary
competition.
The premiere
will take place on Thursday, April 18 at 6:30pm at the official festival
venue,
St. Anthony Main Theatre.
Seven years in the making, American
Heart takes viewers on an intimate journey into the lives of three
refugees who now call Minnesota home. All of them confront
life-threatening health emergencies throughout the course of the film, and
their trajectories prove surprising even to their doctors. At the center of it all is a
remarkable health clinic, tucked away in the Hamline-Midway neighborhood of St.
Paul.
The HealthPartners Center for
International Health serves a diverse population of refugees and immigrants
from around the world.
American Heart is directed by Minneapolis filmmaker Chris Newberry,
edited by St. Paul’s Bill Kersey, and executive-produced by local documentary
icon Melody Gilbert.
